The Dearer Shore
While Indefatigable undergoes repairs, a dispirited Captain Pellew disembarks in Portsmouth -- and finds solace from an unexpected source.

Part 1 ~ Chapters 1-9    Part 2 ~ Chapters 10-16    Author's Notes

The Linnet's Nest

Sir Edward has left Portsmouth for his home in Cornwall,  but he is certainly not forgotten.  The woman he left behind faces many changes in her life, but she is consoled by the love of her steadfast father and of her dashing sister, as well as some very warm memories of Sir Edward himself.  A couple of boys in blue put in a cameo appearance.  More or Less a Sequel to The Dearer Shore.

Bowles' Last Ride
Story

Bowles barely escapes the bloody battle for Quiberon peninsula with his life. Disguised in a French uniform, and riding hard on a stolen horse, he heads south to rendezvous with his ship's company, and is blessed to find aid and comfort along the way.

The Theory of Relativity
co-authored with Juliet

It is perhaps not well known that the size of a naval officer's spyglass bears a direct relationship to "that part of a gentleman's anatomy which members of the fair sex find to be of most significance to themselves." And how does a lady assure that the object of her affection possesses a suitable telescope? Why, by making him a gift, by interceding with his superiors, or, if all else fails, by way of a little coercion. All is revealed in a series of very, well, revealing letters.

The Maid on the Shore ~ Part 9 (Written August 2005 ~ Posted 29 May 2006)
This piece is part of a “pass the pen challenge” on HHaH.  The challenge isn’t finished, but I’m so fond of Charlie Hammond that I couldn’t resist posting it here.  A grand ball at the home of Admiral Pettigrew is the scene of some very strange -- and rather randy -- goings on.  Among the guests are the Pellews,  and Lieutenants Bracegirdle, Hornblower, and Kennedy, not to mention Black Charlie himself, who has an unexpected meeting with a woman from his past.
